The location was great—just off the main street, making it very convenient and close to everything while still being relatively quiet. The pool area and staff were oké. However, there were quite a lot insects in the room, and the lack of available drinking water was inconvenient.
Positives: Location: perfect. On Batu Bolong but no traffic sounds. Beautiful and Relaxing pool area. Nice room (half the rooms have AC not directly over the bed, so ask for whichever you prefer).
Negatives: Staff and owner. The staff made a huge issue out of me requesting to move rooms. The first room had AC directly over the bed, and the second time, I wanted to move to a corner room because there was a group of boys in the nearby rooms and kept walking back and forth and rooms dont have privacy curtains. When I contacted the owner, he was also rude and offered zero customer service. Essentially, with much dissatisfaction, they moved me.
To be aware of (not the guesthouse’s fault):
There is a rice field next to the property, and a woman shouts to scare away the birds. If you’re just sleeping at the hotel, there are no issues. The first week I was there in October, it was quiet and peaceful, but during the next two weeks, she was shouting from 8 am to 5 pm, making it impossible to enjoy the pool area. This might depend on the harvesting season.
I’ve stayed here three times and each time for about two months, i couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. The location is great, loads of great cafes and food options within walking distance, close to the main road but set back so you don’t get the noise. The pool is large and well maintained. The staff are all so lovely, welcoming and friendly, the rooms are a good size and the kitchen is fairly well equipped. My only comment would be to add more lighting to the kitchen as it can be a bit dark while cooking in the evening, but with Canggu the price to cook is almost the same as a decent restaurant. Would definitely recommend to anybody!
Lived here for 1 month. pluses: location, beautiful place and swimming pool. that's all. The water pressure in the shower is very weak. cleaning was very poor quality and with a large content of bleach. we are allergic, so we asked not to use bleach, but they continued to wash with aggressive products. change bed sheets and towels once 5 days. we asked to change sheets after 2 days because we got dirty and they refused us. the owner and staff of the guest house made our stay a living hell. all requests were denied.
There is no drinking water for guests in the shared kitchen, although other guesthouses that are cheaper have water. The kitchen is dark and uncomfortable for cooking, especially in the evening. the price is expensive for living in this place. The staff hardly speaks English and does not understand. I do not recommend staying for a long time. it is better to consider neighboring options.
I love Kakol homestay, I was supposed to stay 1 week but ended up staying 2 months lol.
The location is amazing, loads of great cafes within walking distance, close to the main road, literally in the heart of Canggu but set back so you don’t get the noise.
The rooms are very spacious and clean, the bathroom also.
The pool is large and the garden is so well maintained. It's like living in a little jungle.
The staff are all so lovely, welcoming, and friendly.
Laundry service and bike rental.
They also now have a restaurant in front of the entrance, it is so cozy, I love staying on the rooftop and working from there, the food is so good and so cheap.
